Charles’ Coaching Circles Facilitator training course exceeded my expectations. The process that Charles has developed is elegant and powerful. It generates the insights and shifts in perspective that can truly support participants of a coaching circle in addressing their challenges. I would recommend the course to leaders, consultants and facilitators who want to develop themselves and their own coaching skills as well as support others in their growth and development. At the end of the three-day course, I walked away with the knowledge and skills I needed to confidently offer coaching circles as part of my consulting practice.
I trained as a Coaching Circle facilitator-coach mainly because of my appreciation of the trainer, Charles Brassard, who I knew from another context. Prior to the training I had previous experience of Action Learning and peer group learning processes. And I found much more in the workshop than I thought I would: the workshop didn’t just « add » some knowledge to my skill set; it transformed my mindset in a subtle and yet profound way. Since my training, Coaching Circles have grown to play a central part in my professional practice and are for me one of most powerful processes to generate change and vertical development in clients.
I very much appreciate the coaching circle methodology - on the one hand for its relative “simplicity” combined with its ability to reach profound and actionable results in a short period. I totally look forward to running such circles myself, as I am a firm believer in the rich learning and development experience possible not only in the role of the client, but also in the role of the coach. Both bring incredibly important growth possibilities such as quality listening, respecting “otherness”, stretching ones own perspective, practicing empathy, opening to vulnerability, feeling into ones own inner space, etc. And of course, it is beautiful to find the openings that allow participants to move beyond their habitual way of being and doing. With Charles guiding us so seamlessly through the study, I experienced coaching circles as a powerful vehicle for development. Coaching a colleague as a part of a group (rather than one-on-one) required augmented listening, sensitivity and attentiveness to each member of the circle, not only to the colleague being coached. In this place of richer presence, our open-ended yet personal questions created new understandings and shed new light on our challenges and what can support our moving forward. The coaching circle allowed me to truly deepen my way of being as a coach. The coaching circle study for me was generative, contemplative and delightful.
Coaching Circles are a unique way of seeing the coaching dialogue come alive in a group context. The power of listening and inquiry get amplified in a shared container where people experience their challenges or opportunities while being held and engaged in community. They leave having been heard in an unequivocal way, with possibilities to take forward that weren't there before.
